Anybody have kids with the chicken pox lately????

Hi Kristen,
How is your daughter this evening? Is she showing any more bumps? I hope it's a mild case for her, sounds like she's already been through a lot! I am an ER nurse, and I see so many cases of 'chicken pops' (as one of my cutest patients called it)

. Most are mild these days, now that the vaccine is available. The Varicella vaccine is required before Kindergarten in my state, so there is a chance your daughter hasn't had it yet. Let me know how she's doing, I hope she's still feeling okay!

SHe fell asleep in my lap about 5:45pm so I KNOW she feels cruddy. She hasn't taken naps since she was 18 months old!!! She's still running fever, BUT no new spots have appeared, thank the Lord. I've been keeping her hydrated, alternating IBP and APAP, and of course the half a box of popsicles, and the rainbow sherbert have made her feel MUCH better. I just hate that she's missing Frosty the Snowman right now, we always watch Frosty and Rudolph and all those shows together every year. She has had one varicella vaccine in 06 that I know of and I think she's had the second one. All I DO know is that she's current until she starts kindergarten. I'm hoping it's just another virus going around. Thanks to all for the advice and support.

Thanks, I don't even drink , but I could use a margarita bout now. She has been quite the diva today, being sick and all. Great time for my husband to be working nights!!!!!

When our daughter was younger, she would insist on being held EVERY second while she was sick. She'd cry and cry and cry if we put her down, but the minute we picked her up, she'd fall asleep in our arms.
Come to think of it, a couple weeks ago she stayed home sick, and insisted on wedging herself into the recliner with me! The only problem is SHE'S 13, and I'm not what you'd call thin, hehe.

Cherish this time as much as you can (stand

). I am amazed at how fast the time goes by. (FYI you're right, a margarita every now and then helps us cherish our children on the rough days

OK, my child is up from her 3 hour nap and the bumps are gone. No trace of them at all. I did however get the otoscope out and checked her ears, and the right one looks awful. That's got to be where the fever is coming from. I put some drops in it til I can get her to the md tomorrow. And NOW I really need the margarits, she's WIDE open after sleeping all evening LOL!!
