I have a chocolate turkey tom. If you have a turkey tell me what breed it is and if possible show me a pic. If you don't have a turkey and would like one tell me what breed you would get.

All domestic turkeys are the breed Turkey. You can see many of the heritage varieties at Porter's Rare Heritage Turkeys.

I will be new to turkey in May. I have an order of Bourbon Reds coming from Cackle along with a mix of broad breasted. I hope to use the broad breasted for the fall and am hoping for a couple hens and a Tom to choose to keep to develop a flock of the reds.

I have raised turkeys for 43 years and currently have heritage Auburn, Bronze, Black, Chocolate, Slate, Sweetgrass, Regal Red, Holland White, Red Bronze, Narragansett and Recessive Slate. The hens are currently laying like Gatling guns but I have yet to set an egg, just not in the mood to mess with poults or chicks this year.
Turkeys are my favorite, I had three wild toms show up Saturday morning looking for a girlfriend, the domestic toms were not at all appreciative of the amorous wild suitors!
