Anybody in Indiana?

I'm not setting eggs until March this year.
Anyone got their breeding pens together for 2009 yet?
I've tried to avoid looking to closely at any of my birds when I'm out feeding, because everytime I do, I begin setting up matings in my head and I have vowed to not set eggs this year until March! Old habits die hard though, I typically have chicks hatching by now and I'm starting to get the itch.
I rarely order birds from hatcheries but I get all the catalogs and this week, I have started getting chick and seed catalogs and my blood has started pumping.
My new hatchery building is not finished yet (on purpose) because if it was done, I would already be hatching and I am going to put that off until March (does anyone believe me yet?)

What are the Spring plans for the rest of you?

Every warm day we're out working in the barn to set up pens. But trying not to get too excited. It's going to be a long few months before we can do much, huh?

I have a 8 month old splash cochin rooster for sale and 5 month old grey frizzle cochin roosters for sale. My hens are laying and I have mixed eggs for hatching also. They are as follows:

1st pen has a barnyard mix of hens, some are RIR/Bantam mix, some are pure Barred Rock, some are pure Ameraucana/Auracana. They are in with pure Turken rooster and a Ameraucana/Auracana rooster. I will be seperating the Ameraucana/Auracana later this spring for pure chicks.

2nd pen has Egyptian Fayoumis with a Turken hen, so you will have pure Egyptian and a Turken/Egyptian cross.

I get 8-11 eggs a day and they are mixed, so no picking of all one breed right now except the Egyptian. I will be having White Faced Blk Spanish this spring as well as Cochin and Frizzles. I also will have Muscovy and Guinea eggs this spring as well as young fowl.

what part of indiana do you hail from, I'm near bloomington and am interested in ameraucana not nessisarily pure. but I haven't found a local source for chicks yet other than the big stores which they just get them shipped in anyway. I really want to get my birds`from a local farm or hobbist.

How is everyone handling this cold weather? I wanted to see if any of you will have Rhode Island Reds or Barred Rocks for sale. I am looking for some this spring. I would love to find adults, but would also buy chicks or eggs. I would like to find show quality ones. Thanks
