I am very new at raising chickens-still in the beginning stages of learning-I have five-3 week old golden comets-two ameracaunas and two buff orpingtons who are all two weeks old. I already want more-my son is building the coop and is almost done. He tells me we already have enough-but I see all these cute silky pictures-it makes me think my son is wrong! What to do???
I will comiserate with you! I too have 5 week old chicks along with some hens. I am happy to see them getting bigger and getting thier big girl feathers, and they really aren't all that pretty right now (speckeld sussex), and I really would like to see some more little fuzzie butts at my house. However...I too will have to sit here and drool
at everyone elses babies! Hopefully maybe in the spring we will have a rooster and some fertile eggs from our own flock. The incubation process sounds exciting and scary at the same time. I would like to give it a shot. So here's to us! Better get out the hankies for the tears and drool. Watch out for the keyboard though, I hear they don't like liquids!!
I don't think I'm getting anymore once this set comes in but that's only because my DH would skin me or probably make me live outside with them. He dreads the days I have to go in to buy feed. He'll look out at the car and raise his eyebrow then ask, "Nothing alive out in the car this time?" His old question used to be "We don't have to feed anything you brought home do we?" but I answered him with "No I'm pretty sure if you put food in the bowl they will eat it themselves."
I will definately post pics when I get the little guys in though.
I am not getting anymore chicks, well at least this year! I have more than enough, especially my DH said only 5 or 6 chickens max and now I'm up to 13 chickens, 6 ducks and a guinea! But he should have known better
