My rooster Prince is molting early this year. I think the weather is confusing his molting season.

My roosters name is prince!!!!! Also the weather has been weird!

One of my two-year old Ameraucana/White Leghorn hens began molting a couple of weeks ago. She's white with black spots and usually is a very perky looking hen but now she's all razor stubble/pinfeathers and looks like rehabilitated roadkill.

You think it's weather related?

Well, a month after OP posted this question, i have 4 out of 14 molting. Of course, it’s hotter than blazes this year in Central Texas and has been since June. We’re having August weather in June & July (105 today!) so I’m assuming the heat is a factor. None of my heat tolerant birds are molting (Andalusians, leghorns, etc). It seems to be the heavier breeds like Cuckoo Marans and Wyandottes. They’re all getting pampered like crazy mitigating the heat, but it’s a pretty scrappy looking flock right now!

Yea I've got at least 7 thats been dropping feathers for a few weeks now. Mostly my older birds 3+yo

My older hens started stress-molting when the heat wave reached its peak. Now that the weather has broken a bit, the younger ladies are all following suit. It's too early for this mess! Zheesh!
