Anybody use vanilla cream in coffee??

Not trying to start something just making a point, Half and Half is not already sweet... Your thinking of stuff like the coffee "creamer" they sell in the dairy, which is sweetened. Half and Half is sold next to the whipping cream(not to be confused w/already whipped) and is only half cream and half milk nothing else. My mom is hypoglycemic and can have no sugar and has a tolerance problem with just milk so the only thing she can use in her coffe is half n half.

ETA: If you asked for Half n Half in a restaurant and what they bring you is sweet then they brought non dairy creamer... Very dangerous for folks with sugar problems.

It could also be they are thinking of something like 'sweetened condensed milk' which would obviously be sweet.

I don't drink coffee like most folks...it is kind of like a desert drink with me...I put chocolate syrup, dark chocolate candy, caramel, whipped cream, ice cream, and stuff like that

I know perfectly well what half and half is... ( got some in my fridge right now) sorry to me it is sweeter than milk... to each their own. I didnt say it had sugar in it, to me it taste's sweet. I take that back.. they do add corn syrup to fat free half and half.... so if you are using that kind.. it definitely has sugar in it.

As for milk.. it has sugar in the form of lactose.

Interesting about your mom... my friend has reactice Hypoglycemia is told to stay away from animal fats which would certainly include cream. I know there are different types though. She is told to stay away from processed sugars but can have fruits as the fiber helps a lot.

I know some hypogycemic people also take glucose pills.

My brother is diabetic and definitely stays away from fats ... in some cases hypoglycemia is a precurser to type II diabetes.

Avoiding animals fats is one of the dumbest things diabetics and people with hypoglycemia are told to do. Animals fats are what people evolved to consume. There are ESSENTIAL fatty acids in animal fats...as in you have to have them to survive. There are essential amino acids in protein. There are NOT, however, any essential carbohydrates.
Sugars in the form of corn syrup, sugars, etc... are what cause reactive hypoglycemia. They trigger a huge insulin release and then you get a reactive plummet in blood sugar leaving you shaking, dizzy and in immediate need to eat more. FAT does NOT cause this reaction.

Many fruits are also horrible for diabetics. While it doesn't trigger insulin like glucose, fructose is very inflammatory and is very hard on the liver. It raises trglycerides and is a big factor in children today developing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

I used to have reactive hypoglycemia. I thought I was doing a good thing by using sugar-free creamer. While it doesn't have sugar it is loaded with carbohydrates from corn syrup as well as hydrogenated fats (these are VERY unhealthy!).

Now I use heavy cream or coconut cream. I sweeten with stevia or erythritol....Splenda when desperate.

amen wifezilla, amen. protein and fat are NOT bad for you - i had the same problems until i realized that if i ate a certain amount (not tons) i didnt have the problems with my bloodsugar i was having trying to follow every crazy diet in the magazines.

Why are we arguing about what vanilla cream is and going off topic about what is good for you and what is not?

Please stay on topic and the topic is
Do you use vanilla cream in your coffee?

To answer, no I don't.

See? Easy to stay on topic.
