lol I will agree with that. I have one person I work with woh calls up dnr and says she wants them to do something about the panther on her property. She raises bison. They say there are no panthers in the state of Missouri. She says okay then I will get a gun ans shoot it. They say you can't shoot a panther it is illegal. She says I thought you just said there aren't any in Missouri. Government type of agencies are too funny.

People have been crossing the domestic cat with a bobcat, for the pet trade. So any color or size could be possible.

Not that I am agruing the point but my problem with what she saw was that we are in rural Missouri. Not a normal place for people trying to corner the pet trade with bobcats. Not to mention that they have reports of them all across the united states. More than the more common light colored counterparts.

I saw one 20 something years ago in central PA. I'd say more than 45 lbs. I was alone back a dirt road & thankfully in my car. It merely looked at me with interest & wandered away. It was sighted later by several others in the area. I didn't officially report it. I was scared, but also very glad to see it.

can you hear me now? :

My parents live in SE MO. They and their neighbors have been dealing with the same DNR "no cats here!" horse hockey for the last several years.

A neighbor just down the road saw a cougar take down a 1200# cow (grabbed it by the neck and severed the artery); cow was dead before he could get across the field to it.

A business owner had a security cam video of a cougar walking along the top of his 6' wood privacy fence.

My dad has seen TWO black panthers (he knows there are at LEAST two because he saw them at the SAME TIME chasing a deer -- deer was literally running for its life and they were right behind it and closing) and has seen a mother cougar w/ her 4 kittens/cubs. But you know how it is: "you don't know what you're talking about; there are NO cougars and/or panthers in Missouri...

" right. uh huh. if you say so.

These pics were taken at Watonga Ok. last winter by a lady from her kitchen, The cat was watching her kids play on the floor and had it been summertime when the kids play outside the outcome may have been much different. These pics made the local newspaper. Just click in the pics to enlarge.

I SAW THOSE PICTURES!!!!! Scared the bejeebies out of me even on the computer screen!!!

My poor pugs wouldn't stand a chance against that cat.
