anyone alredy affected by less daylight?

I am sad, I only get to be with my babies in the dark!! They are so cute, they tolerate me picking them up off of their roosts when I get home (some of them) but its hard to visit all of them one by one when I have 80+ chickens, so I check everyone in their groups! They are already in bed when I come home now, so I just close their doors after I check for eggs (Some are still faithful, not many!)
I get up at 5 a.m. and go spread feed in the yard if it's not raining, or in their feeders if it is....from coop to coop.....open the doors...and out they come!! Even in the dark, they know its me and out they come.....Frankie, my husband, watches us on the cameras, and sometimes I can hear him laughing at us? We must be a sight?
I work four days a week, so I get to spend some daytimes with them, that is cool, thats when I do their maintenance, and hang out all day with them!

I enjoy having the light in the morning but hate coming home to it already being dark!! We can't get much done outside on the acreage at night, it's dark in the country!!!!

We've been in our home for only a month now so I'm still used to the city life and went to take some trash out to the burn can and had to come back into the house with it......TOO DARK to find the can!! Plus I was Scared!!!!!! The yard lights don't go out that far, so I "chickened" out!

I DETEST STANDARD TIME!!! I want that hour after work back!!!

So yes, I am affected. But my birds have REALLY been affected!

From 21 birds, even through the fowl pox, I was getting 15-18 eggs a day up until 2 weeks ago. Now, I'm lucky if I get 10.

The other thing I bemoan is the inability to let the girls out to run the yard for grass and bugs for about an hour before dark, after I come home from work.

I'm sure ya'll will understand when I tell you I've seriously considered asking my boss if I can come in at 6:30 and leave at 4:30, just so my girls can spend time out of the chunnel!

Well, one thing for sure---In 46 days, the daylight hours will start to lengthen again. That's always a psychological lift for me.

I agree we went way down on the number of eggs we are getting too. I added a light to both of my coops. The hardest thing is to remember to put them in right in the middle of eating dinner! I will be counting down until we start getting more daylight again.

My girls must have been psychic- I went home today and got 17 eggs!!

I've decided not to use additional light, though; I'm going to let them be natural, and I've read that it takes a toll on a hen to lay full-out year-round
