Anyone been able to STOP a dog from digging????

Sorry. Hit the wrong button while editing. Moth balls dropped in the offending hole are a good correction. Just make sure you give her an acceptable time and place to dig. My Newfoundland/Aussie prepares all our planting areas and his yard no longer looks like a minefield. Good luck!

Thank You for the advice. When the weather gets warmer we may box off the area the chickens dig in and she can dig there. It has sand in it so hopefully it would easy for her to realize that she CAN dig in the sand but NOT in the dirt in the yard.

Good luck on the digging issue. Some breeds dig more than others. The best i have been able to do is give my dog an area to dig in and bury balloons in areas they are not supposed to. Normally takes about three popped balloons before they learn not to dig in that spot....lol.

A lot of people have already mentioned a play box for the dog. My dog is a DIGGER, she loves it! I have places she is "allowed" to dig. She has a play area at home. She can dig in sand boxes at parks. She can dig in the woods.
And I encourage her by saying "DIG".... "dig-dig-dig-dig-dig! Good girl!"
And I discourage her from digging in the "wrong" spots. I say "No" but do NOT use the "D" word. I never say "do not dig" because she only hears "dig" and goes at it.
She loves to dig and does it every chance she gets, but she does not dig our yard, and never digs park lawns.

I've even put her to work, when my husband had to dig (in our yard) for some landscaping. We have some tough, rocky soil in our yard. I showed her where to go and said "dig-dig-dig" and she did some work.
