Anyone "burnt out" on hatching yet?

Yeah, Wolf_kim, I was burnt out with all the hens I had that went broody! I had them all in separate pens (10 of them) not even counting my 5 setting turkey hens!! which was driving me crazy taking care of all those pens plus the regular 2 henhouses. Ackk. but now that I'm letting them all free-range, it's much much easier on me. they're doing great, even though they're still tiny. They seem to thrive more when they range then when they're in a pen. Give yourself a break -- you'll feel better having had one...

Oh I can so relate with the hearing peeping. I hear it in my kitchen and they have
all been out in the barn for a month now.

We were at 90 birds at one point but are now down to around 50. My goal is to get
my laying flock down to 24 birds and my silkie/Spithauben/Brabanter/Polish flock
down to 12.

Hey that leaves room for a couple cute little quail.....

LOL. Never said anything about putting the incubators up! LOL As a matter of fact I am building a bigger one out of a refridgerator over the summer.

I would cry if I put the bators "up" too. I just turn them off and leave them where they are, once they're clean of course.

I've got too many chicks on the ground right now to be hatching out more. LOL. Too many feather dusters and not enough pens to keep them.

LOL! I gotcha now! Unfortunately in my case, when the bator goes off, it has to go up.

I just don't have enough room here to keep it out.

LOL. My incubators are in my bedroom. I'm hearing my newest Javas "announce their arrival" as I type. Talk about getting tired of hearing peeping. There were many a night I listened to them all through the night. The Java are much louder than my Dorkings when they first hatch. Go figure. LOL

I swear I hear peeping just about everywhere I go. Glad I'm not the only one with imaginative chicks peeping loudly in my head everywhere.

i am trying to take the summer off, once these 2 bators hatch i am done for a while, and on the other hand we are debating getting a large incubator, and you know when that baby arrives we are going to want to try it out. its a vicious cycle.

Although, I do know once they are cooled off and empty, the empty bators will drive me insane.. and then of course I'll get offers for eggs, you know those deals you just CANNOT pass up?!?! LOL
