Anyone doing a later year hatch that wants to share stories, experiences and pics?

Yikes! Well, the good thing is most of them are dual purpose breeds. We live in a rural area where getting rid of cockerels really isn't that hard, lots of people process. My husband is trying to decide if he wants to mess with growing them out, we have plenty of space for it. I have someone that will buy all of them if he decides he doesn't want to. He has another week or two to decide before I get rid of them. The Leghorn mixes are already testing my patience. The Ameraucana cockerels (however many there end up being) won't be any trouble getting rid of, the OEGB are going to be the issue. None of the OEGB have any comb yet, I'm hoping I can tell by their coloring in the next few weeks.

Yikes, I know your pain!!! Hatched 8 roosters out of 9 BCM eggs last year!! What's your plan with them?

Sadly had to give up on our Rooster Cee-lo. Don't know where or why he suddenly changed. He started picking on Inna and that sat like crap with his mama. :lau see, Inna was the first chick she ever held as a new chicken mom. So, he punched his ticket yesterday. maybe someone can explain this behavior as I never saw it coming.

I was feeding them grapes and he just snapped and went after her and actually shuffled on Inna. Well, to make matters worse he hurt her wing which is now a 150.00 vet bill and taped. My wife went off!!:rant:rant:rant

So, now he belongs to a rooster farm as the lady has nothing but roosters and prefers it that way. Jim-A is the next in line. I just hope he behaves himself...lol. addelesant cockerels can be a challenge but, my fingers are crossed.

Poor Inna has been through it this year. She sat on 3 batches of eggs that were no good, Battled a Black Snake, and now this. She is a trooper and I will fatten her back up. No Roosters in that coop an she can just relax now.

The Barnevelders coop will be finished this week and will go outside. We have made Weeza a splint and she is walking much better. They are healthy and Jim-A continues to works on his crow.:lau:lau It is my comic relief most days.

The flower babies have wing and tail feathers now and all are good. They seem to be very calm and we have no trouble letting them out to stroll in the grass in the evenings. I will post so pics on their progress a little later along with their new coop.

Poor, poor Inna. She has had such a rough time! Was Cee-Lo older? He's the one you were thinking is infertile isn't he? Can't wait to see pictures!

yes, he is either very low productive or sterile. Between 3 hens with him we got jack squat. That was just his last straw. Oh well, onward and upward. oh, he was not older. 18 months.
