Anyone doing a later year hatch that wants to share stories, experiences and pics?

They are coming USPS. I gave them permission to leave them on my carport (in the shade). I work about 15 minutes from home, so I planned to come home right away to bring them in. I had my security camera feed showing on my phone, just in case they were delivered without a text update.

The good news is that my internal and back up hygrometers were both reading 75% when I got home. I had placed both humidity sensors in a ziploc bag over wet salt before going to work. I still need to check the temperature sensors (they were reading very close together).

So two weeks ago I had a batch of eggs that were two day from hatching but a heatwave came to Southern California that brought temps above 110 for 4 days. I guess my chicken got up from her eggs for a while because they die from the heat. When I found them they were burning hot. This was my first time having a broody hen during a heatwave. Probably won't do it again.

I'm so sorry! That is heartbreaking.

Good morning! @KikiLeigh02 I did find out that they sent one egg each of Ameriflower, Easter Egger, Green Magnolia, Olive Egger, Super Blue Egg Layer, and a Super Chocolate Egg Layer. They said the mystery eggs may or may not be tagged with the type.

I'm super excited to see your chocolate egg! If this hatch goes well I'm going to try for some FBCM & some Olive Eggers next. My son REALLY wants a FBCM rooster to show next fall.
