Thank you! I'm having trouble finding a good answer to this: (I did post it to another thread that was "similar" Do you have a good resource for this Q:
Hi! Ok this is all new to me and you're scenario seems closest to my situation and question(s). I currently have our mama hen and her two chicks in the rabbit hutch we built which I have in the coop. They are only 4 days old and so far so good but I need to move them to something bigger soon...https://www.farmstore.com/product/p...n-pen-for-the-old-red-barn-ii-chicken-coop-2/ I was going to buy this and simply put it in the coop (which is a barn and outside are all netted). So they have more room but are still in the coop - I love your idea as the chicks have been "interacting" with the big girls since day one. Then 1) what do you think of this transition brooder 2) does Mom stay in the brooder (the link) when I transition 3) Do I transition later this week when they're going on 2 weeks old 4) when does the last step happen - do they literally live in the brooder until they're 4 weeks with feathers? Won't the mom get tired of all of it? Thank you!
If the chicks and mom have been exposed to the other hens and everybody is OK, you do not have to keep mom and babies in a brooder. In fact they would all be happier out of confinement. Keep a watchful eye on the other hens, but mom will keep her chicks safe and so will your rooster. If there is a problem with any hen being aggressive, separate HER from the others until she learns to play well.

Just checked the flower eggs. They are completely dark now. Perfect air cells and movement. I think its actually going to happen this time.. Quick, someone throw me a piece of wood to knock on.

A really cool thing happened at feeding time. When I put the treat in for Inna's babies Jim-A the 5 week old cockerel made the same sound Cee-lo our Rooster and acting dad makes for his hens and called the rest to eat. I did not know this trait started this early. It was the baby version, but the same.:lau my wife and I looked at each other and just laughed.:clapThat young we just assumed it was to each his own. hmmmmm.
