we have pips this morning. I can hear little voices as well.:pop

I started my batch July 28 and I had the same issues as you. Although, my hens and roosters eggs are viable. I had wanted to move the coop, and so I did but at this time the chicks started to pip and all but one made it. The one chick eventually died as well. I don’t know why, maybe from stress.

So, my broody hens snapped out of it and I collected 36 eggs over 5 days and bought an incubator (some eggs were not viable because I didn’t store them in a cool place, I read the fertility rate drops after 2 days). Which is what I was expecting. Of the 36 I had;10 eggs didn’t take (non fertile), 1 had a blood ring, and 1 looked like it developed for 6 or 7 days then quit.

Today and yesterday was day 21 (I added 5 eggs on July 29- the day after I put the majority of the batch in). I think I have 7 chicks that have hatched last night/early morn and one that hatched the night before (he/she is running around now), the freshly hatched ones were resting on the incubator floor this morning. There are a couple others that have pips but haven’t progressed.

I tried the dry hatch method. The incubator has been fluctuating between 98.6 - 101.2 Fahrenheit. I have tried to keep it at a steady 99.5, and that’s what it has been majority of the time. Humidity was always between 15%-30% until day 19. Then in lock down it was tricky for me to keep the humidity constant and controlled. It has been fluctuating between 40%-60% I accidentally added too much water yesterday (day 21) it was at 77% and it soaked the paper towel. It probably stayed at 70% for 10 hours. I took out some excess water without opening the lid, and the paper towel dried out over night. Didn’t seem to affect the eggs, since majority of the ones that were pipped, hatched. Humidity dropped down to 45/50% this morning and is at 55% now.

Fingers crossed we have more chicks in the next few days! My hens and rooster are Buff Orpington’s! I can add some pics later on.

ok, we have 3 dry. 4 and 5 are working but they have been at it all day and probably tired I would imagine. The two chicks I got a good look at seem to be mostly yellow with black in the center of the back. kinda like chipmunks.:giggot three shells out so there are 3 but mom was getting rattled so I called it good. Egg 6 has no pip or movement.

Yay! 5 out of 6 is awesome!
