anyone doing their own fecal testing?

How many people on here do their own fecal testing?
What microscope do you use?
Also- I have found two slightly different methods outlined online:

The ever popular Fiasco Farm

and here's another one that seemed informative

The main difference between them being the solution to mix- one talks about using a solution of epsom salt, the other sugar.
What do you use?
Is one better than the other?

Considering your goats are ill right now, you need to have a sample sent off to a professional. Passing time learning the best tricks will not benefit them. Perhaps it is a skill you can learn, but your immediate situation warrants not waiting.

I agree and have spoken to one vet that has called me back so far.

Like I said in my other post. I can't get a goat to the vet easily. I do not have a car. The vet that I have heard back from says I am not in their area, but gave me lots of advice. I am waiting to hear back from the other offices I have called.

Since I am reading so much about management and worms etc. I am interested in this for the long term. It seems like the only way to really stay on top of knowing when to worm and if your treatments are effective, is to check fecals. It makes sense to learn to do this yourself.
