Today is day 21 for them so they're right on time . Tonight I have 3 chicks and 2 pips. In one of the pips the beak and part of it's head is exposed.

Keep up the great work!

We've gone one out and 5 others pipped right now. Doesn't look like our Serama made it...but we're excited about the possibility of 9 silkies and 4 frizzles!

Well...

6 are out

6 are still in...without pips. I realize it's only day 20. It just seems later since the others came early.

Of the ones that have hatched...
2 are black silkies
1 is a splash (I think) Silkie
2 are black frizzle
1 white/yellow frizzle.

Of the ones still to hatch...
1 is a frizzle
5 are silkies

The serama egg never fully developed its beak and was unable to pip its shell (or that's my best guess after opening the shell...it was dead and the top half of its beak had not started developing at all).

I had 1 white silkie that died about 30 minutes after hatching...no explanation.

I'll post pictures later!

Hope everyone's hatch is going well!

I just foudn out one pipped internally.....I've been candling when I add water and I saw something odd so I put it up to my ear and i heard the faintest little tap....it isn't making any sound in there though, nor rocking the egg like I've heard...but definitely a tap...>i hope it hatches tomorrow so the family can watch....

its day 30 in the morning for me....the other egg hasn't pipped internally yet...I am getting a bit worried but I know it can take until day 32....the other egg pipped internally but no external pip yet....it seems stronger than yesterday with its taps....

I read that CO2 is the cause for the pips....it contracts the muscles in teh neck....now, not that I want to do this, but I wonder if I have too much fresh air inthere and they aren't getting enough accumulation of co2 to pip correctly....I won't change that because Oxygen is better than lack of...but its interesting to think of.....it seems like the faster co2 builds up, that it would cause more contractions of the muscle, therefore a faster hatch but I am not playing with that right now.
