anyone due on feb. 8th-13th??

Sounds as if everyone has at least some viable chicks in those incubators! I candled a few of mine last night and out of five shipments of eggs in the mail that I received I have chicks in all of them. Even a large white "surprise" egg that one of my sellers sent is developing a chick so I should have a lot of fun the week of the ninth.

I bought two batches of mixed barn yard eggs plus dk brahmas, silver penciled wyandottes and silver and blue favorolle bantams!
I am going to raise at least two of the endangered breeds and the favorolles are very critical, especially the bantams.
Good luck today everyone!

I'm due the 29th, and then again on the 10th. I'm getting pretty excited. Except for two little test eggs a week or so ago, I haven't had anything hatch for several months. Better get back to work on some new brooder idea.

OK. do you guys/gals want to hear a funny/wierd story? Yes? OK, here it is.
I was making cookies last week and cracked an egg that I had bought at Safeway, organic brown. It looked like it had the tell tale circle on the yolk that signals a fertile egg. It got me to thinking that maybe if I put one of those store bought eggs in the incubator that I would then have a "control" egg to compare with as an infertile to a fertile.
Well,..................I candled the store egg last night for comparison and it looks like there is something in there. I candled it when I put it in so that I would know what a for sure infertile egg looked like and this wasn't the same.
So................................I guess I will have two surprise eggs. One sent to me by the seller and one from the grocery store. If it is indeed fertile then it was also in the fridge for about two weeks before I slipped it into the bator.
So..................what do ya think of that???
