Congrats everyone on their beautiful chicks! I'm so tired after 2 nights of hatching & caring for my special needs chick (I'm posting about him on the chicks topic) that I can barely post, but I did enjoy getting caught up on everybody on this thread tonight.

That's the thing--it's definitely half copper black Marans, which is black with copper points! So, it's a mystery at this point to me...and my EEs are all buff colored!

Hopefully I'll have additional clues with leg color and/or comb type later on.

Here are the babes that hatched out yesterday. Lost two others. One fully formed never hatched out, and the other very weak and fianlly died last night, thought it was going to make it too. Blue/black/splash chochins.

I am guessing two blue and two splash...?

Of all the eggs I put in the bator, 22, 8 of them were EE eggs. Only one of them hatched.

The other EE came out with the yoke still attached on the outside. I don't know if it will make it.

One piped and was upside down and died. If I had only opened the bator and turned it, it would have lived.

I may not use the egg cartons next time.

So far I have 9 in the play pen. All are RIR's and EE mixed.

They are so cute.

Yes, they were from tuffoldhen. She sent 16 eggs, and 10 of them were scrambled by the PO--totally clear and scrambled. These were the remaining six. I am SO grateful that she sent extras!

Ok i need some advice, what does it mean when a baby chick has there wings down? About 5 are like that, it makes me nervoiuse becouse man i already lost 5 babys.

Do you mean standing there with wings hanging loose, not holding them up tight? Seems like it's a sign they're not thriving. I would make sure the temperature is right where you have them & see if they're eating and drinking. You can try dipping their beaks in the chick vitamin/electrolyte solution or if you don't have that some gatorade or just sugar water. Look under their tail & make sure the vent is not pasted up so they can poop.

Good luck with your babies!
