Your setup looks organized and wonderful.
I just plugged in my home made bator without the fan because I don't have one yet, but it seems to be working well. It shut off at 110 so I just adjusted the thermostat down a bit.
Good luck with your hatch!

candling egg question--
does anyone know if you can always see the yolk inside the egg when candling, or just when baby chicks are forming inside? i candled today 'its only the 5th day though' and i saw something but i thought it might be the yolk..? i didnt candle all of them, just a few. i am only using a flashlight so maybe it could be the baby chick but i cant see it very well? thanks!

If you are looking at brown eggs you probably won't see much at five days. If you are looking at white or light eggs you would see a dark spot and maybe you could see the air bubble. Five days is really soon though. You might also see some veins.
I candled all of mine the first time and since I didn't know really what to look for and all my eggs were brown, I could only see shadows and then clear areas. All the eggs that had shadows had chicks inside. I cracked them all after my incubator "cooked" the chicks. Got up one morning to find the temp at 115 degrees.. Bye bye chickies. I did learn what to look for when I cracked the eggs because then I could actually see which eggs had chicks. Almost all did.

Hi Bri,
My husband is making a coffee can candler for me tonight or maybe tomorrow so I can candle on day 7 which is tomorrow. I was adding a little water to the incubator and checked two eggs doing the same thing you did with a flash light. I don't think I saw a yolk either. These are brown and green eggs. But I definately saw a vein in one of the two eggs

I wasn't planning on handling the eggs until day 7 but I wouldn't be a newbie if I didn't steal one peek now wouldn't I!
