anyone else check there chickens feet all the time to deflect problems

I can understand why someone with so many chickens like you doesn’t pick up each and every chicken to check on them often, I’m sure that as long as you spend some time each day to watch them and you know what to look for you will be fine without having to handle your birds.

x2--I can understand that too--that is several--but just watch the overall picture and you will know when something is out of the ordinary and what you should do..I only have 16 and am a stay at home mom/housewife with a 16 yo son going into 11th grade this year, so I probably have more "time on my hands" than you might have. We just have to adapt our schedule and resources to the best of our abilities and do what we can do...no worries...First things First...

It is physically impossible for me to pick up each chicken every day but I do a visual check 2 times a day-every day (opening and closing the coops) and I look at the feet and the other body parts. I look for swelling and redness and scaly mites. However, when out in the chicken yard, I will pick up as many as possible and do a random look to see if there are any foot problems. The visual roost check usually works for me. I have found 3 chickens in the past that had bumblefoot and I found it when I did my roost checks that night. I was able to take care of the problem the very next day.
