I was intrigued and delighted to stumble on the thread here at BYC about the great coop made from a bunk bed, storage unit, legs, and a bottle rack purchased at Ikea. Not only is it extremely creative and utilitarian, it's much less expensive than purchasing a ready-made coop of the same size. Bravo, Aaron and Corinne Bell!

Since the BYC thread was last active about five months ago, has anyone ELSE experimented with this concept using a bed frame of some kind? My local CL and Salvation Army Thrift Store often have bed frames for very little money, compared to buying the lumber and building a frame from "scratch" (as it were).
Ideas and pictures welcome! I think this would be just the ticket for a friend of mine who wants to keep just four hens in her urban neighborhood.
