Anyone else diagnosed with PCOS?

The weight gain is something I have struggled with as well. Up, down, up, down....If I am extremely stricked in my diet and exercising at least five days a week, I can keep the weight off. But if I got off this schedule I start gaining right away... Right now I am on the weight loss side of this cycle, thank goodness. I don't have excess hair growth though. Just horrible mood swings.

There are essential oil blends that you can use that help regulate some hormonal based mood swings. I make a blend for the girl who works for me for this purpose. She has chronic depression which intensifies as her period gets closer. She uses an anti depression blend I made her daily and the PMS about once a week . The week of her period she doesnt use that one then after she goes back to once a week maintenance. In the beginning she needed to use the PMS blend daily to help stop her mood swings but as the oils took effect in her system she was able to cut back to weekly use. We have had to adjust her anti depression blend as it took effect as well. Essential oils are like any other medicine that need to have the dosage adjusted periodically. When you look for your accupuncturist look for one who is also a Certified Clinical Aromatherapist..one who uses essential oils as aromatic medicine.. I found over the course of more than 20 years battle with PCOS that what worked best for me and for many of the women in the support group I used to belong to, was that alternative medicine often worked better with fewer side effects for PCOS women. I found that the other therapies ( accupuncture, essential oils, herbals, diet, exercise ect) worked better in conjunction with the metformin than using birth control, byetta and metformin. I have wicked reactions to many drugs, birth control made me violently ill, but have never had a reaction to accupuncture or herbals or essential oils.
Of course everybodys body is different and what works well for one may not work for another but the doctors who only go with drugs are not offering all options to women with PCOS and no group needs options more than us since its such a nasty thing to have to struggle with.
