Anyone else grossed out...

My mom did the same w/ my dad. After 4 pregnancies (2 kids), she said she wanted to make sure it took.

A very long time ago I worked in a nursing home. We had a lady admitted as a resident who had very very bad bed sores that had to be cleaned twice a day. The one at her lower tail bone was about the size of a fifty cent piece and was so deep with a flashlight you could see her intestines. It had to be cleaned and packed twice a day every day. OMG the smell. After a few weeks of that I was able to do anything. Nothing bothered me. Fast forward 18 years and being out of the health care field I am a big wuss. I have lost my ability to have nerves of steel and a rock iron stomach when it comes to dealing with people and their various wounds. I just can't look at some of those things any more. *shiver*

Similar experience here, only that I worked in a funeral home when I was in college. You get to a point where the thought of death & bodies doesn't bother you in slghtest. In fact, that summer we drove past a pretty gruesome accident where the guy had been ejected from the car. He was covered with a tarp and I was all "meh - happens to everyone". My mom was furious with me. I responded, "hey, you're the one who got me that darn job".

I watched every minute of it! The urologist explained everything as he did it. Strangely enough, DH didn't want to hear about it later!

I can handle just about anything thrown my way except 2 things,
One is the smell of blood, yes "smell " not the sight of, that doesnt bother me in the least.
Two, any one of the kids getting hurt, getting shots, giving the oldest one a shot( she is diabetic and I swear it bothers me more than her), or watching my very oldest having an epidural, ( I nearly passed out on that one).

Bring on the worse and I can handle it, be it one of the kids and I turn into super wimp.

Years ago, I had my appendix out (turned out not to be bad, but they took it anyway since they were there.
Anyway, I had a reaction to the stitches, this meant on a daily basis I had to scrub the area and carefully remove any pieces that festered up to the surface. I can pretty much handle anything after doing that to myself.
My vascular surgeon offered to do it, if I came to the office everyday, I think he just wanted to see some skin. He asked me out once he released me from care.......

My girlfriend said he asked me out cause he peeked under the sheet after I was under anesthesia
