As many as can & will be hatched!
Any chicks that we do not want on our farm for egg production or pest control, will be sold through the local Blue Seal. People in our neck of the woods go absolutely crazy over cheap chicks(even mixed breeds)! Our chicks, with the exception of setting our BLRW pair in a room together for specifically pure breds, will be mixes betweeen our BLRW roo and any of our hens(1-BG, 2-BAs, 1-BLRW, 4-EEs, 2-SLWs, & 2-GLWs). We already have a few orders($1.50-2.00/chick) ready and waiting for the little darlings to hatch out.
To the person wondering what we have for an incubator: yes, it is the still air-LG-9200 styrofoam incubator... and it works
GREAT! Personally, not sure why so many on this forum are against the LGs....
It currently contains: 36 eggs(3 pure bred BLRWs, 9 BLRW/EE x's 12 EE /? x's[either BG or BLRW], and the rest are BLRW/ SLWs, GLWs, BAs, & BGs) + 1 Weather Channel personal weather station!
I completely agree with you about the LG. Once I had mine figured out with how it responds in certain rooms in my home, it has been wonderful! Especially if I use the "dry hatching" method of incubation. If I had more avenues to even GIVE chicks away where I live, I would be incubating more often!
I haven't tried the dry hatching method before... will have to experiment with the next clutch(due to go in on one of the F.A.'s suggested setting dates: Feb. 11, 12, or 20-22) Going to aim for the 12th though.
