You do miss alot when hatching under a hen. But, boy, it sure is easier, isn't it. The hen does all the work, and you just walk out to the coop about 87 times, I mean, once or twice a day to check on her. Wait, did I say it was easier?????????

Hahah! I had a silkie hen years ago We had a horrible owl problem so I figured she had gotten taken off...showed back up one day with 8 little chicks and 2 pekin ducklets! Boy was she mad when I picked up several to hold & cuddle! Easiest hatch EVER!

Okay, I haven't candled in a few days but I just had to do one! Looks good, alot of movement! Still worried because they were in the experimental bator that had temp/humid problems for 10 days but so far, about 6 of the 8 have a chance. I left the other 2 in just in case, hope they don't explode!

Paula, mine are due on the 2nd! It's been years since I had to go cold bator but you guys fueled my addiction....hubby thanks you (not). hahaha!

So, this is your first hatch in years? I'll bet you're stressed. And he's thrilled, he's just not telling you. My hubby's the same way. He pretends not to like my chickies, but secretly I know he does. Good luck!

Ah, he's fine with it right now....but who knows about later!

He's a city boy, told me to stop messing with the eggs or I was going to kill them! I had to explain they needed to be turned 3x per day!! Hubby also pretends not to like the cats but somehow treats get put into the cart at Walmart. Go figure MEN!!!

I swear I can hear pipping but it's too early!! Heck I'll be happy with just one, it's been so long!

I really miss the joy of chickens.

I turned my eggs today put the top back on the bator and while I was looking throught the incubator window I saw that my eggs were rocking like crazy! They must really want out!

Guess what I have 2 dozen eggs going into the incubator as soon as these come out. I guess I do have an addiction. LOL
