My 7yr old Anatolian mix, Deputy, was diagnosed with Canine Cognitive Dysfunction earlier this year after losing several weight and acting a little "senile". Deputy is starting to loose weight again, vet could find no clear reason for it. We think (he is free fed, same food as always) that he will "zone out" and forget to eat at times.
Some of the behaviors we've experianced:
*He will bark for no apparent reason (all the other dogs are asleep/quiet) and will not stop until someone touches him (vision was checked, vet found nothing wrong).
*Every so often he will run in a panic from another room, even though nothing/nobody has moved/changed.
*He "spaces out" and appears to go in a trance at times (vet can't rule out seizures, but does not think that's whats happening).
*He will lay in the middle of the room or in front of a door and not move even if someone steps on him/pushes him with the door.
He has had xrays, urine/stool/blood checks, thyroid panel, etc. Other then his mental fog, he is healthy.
