Anyone else have a thinking place?

We would call a 'prayer meeting' when there was a tough subject that needed to be addressed.. We knew that meant to head to the barn and pick a stall. Somehow it seemed easier to bring up and discuss really sticky things with our hands busy and a wall between us. Things that would become a fight in the house, just seemed to get discussed rationally and calmly in the barn.
... or maybe it was the fact that we each had a pitch fork in our hands that kept us from getting irrational...

When I need to think (or even just need quiet time) I sit outside at the goat's picnic table & watch the chickens (sometimes they even join me!) or when I'm in my car, I turn the radio off.

I have several, but that's just because I think a lot. My boyfriend says I'm the philosophical type, which is funny since I'm going for my B.S....

Any place secluded, usually under a tree or on a rock.

Same here with stall cleaning - very theraputic (not so aromatic) but maybe it's the physical work and endorphine release that makes muckers happy? Who knows. My favorite place to actually SIT and think would be the goat pen. We have a 12 foot across by 3 foot deep old trough (some might call it a redneck swimming pool) that sits upside down with a T-post under one edge to hold it up. The goats use it as a shelter, but its original intention was to provide enrichment for the goats and enjoyment for us while we watched them climb to the high side, loose their balance, and slide off onto the ground. In seconds, they are up there again and trying to play king of the hill. So I can't help myself and I go out there and climb to the slippery high side of the trough, and in no time, I'm surrounded by goats trying to do the same, some even brave enough to push me off from behind. It's a guaranteed fix for a lousy day - can't leave out of there without feeling better!

I always take a book outside and go out and sit on top of duck house. At first they look at me like I am crazy but eventually go back to doing what they are doing and I have 1 or 2 that will get up there with me and sit in my lap or next to me. Love my duckies

Cleaning the kitchen... Like Rusty, I've done it so many times I go on autopilot and my mind is free. Sometimes the coop at my dad's house, but at my mom's we have so many chickens that all ask me for treats that the idea of thinking while out there is downright laughable.

When things get too crowded in the house, and there's no room to think, I head outdoors. There are so many things I can do, like mow the grass, weed the garden, clean the hen house, and just enjoy my chickens and turkeys. And truthfully, I like doing those things.....

A little dirt never hurt, ya know?
