Anyone else have eggs hatching today?

Have hatched 2 out 3 BCM eggs since last night; waiting on the third. Having fits because the one that hatched this morning tore its umbilical cord and was bleeding.

Managed to stop the bleeding, though. Hope it will be okay.

I had a bleeder too, and it was okay. I hope it will be fine.

Made a trip home from work to check on my hatching. I have 5 little guys running around on the eggs. looks like a number of other pips. humidity is 83% is that to high?

How long is it taking ya'll to pip and zip and hatch? had one pipped this morning (at 4:15 am) on day 22. I ran home at lunch which was about 11:15 and there had been no progress at all. It was chirping in the egg so I know it's still alive. Worrying is just part of all of this I guess

I had one that pipped in the morning and 24 hours later still no progress. It was alive in the shell so I helped it out. It was fine. I've done this before when they seem to be taking a really long time to hatch. At least twice in the past the reason for the lack of progress was that the chick wasn't positioned correctly to zip the shell properly. I've never lost one that I've helped out of the shell. I've never dealt with blood or anything either when giving them assistance. If I were to see blood, I would stop and leave it alone.

Thanks Dianne!! I really hope it does this by itself. I had to help one last summer and I was scared to death of killing her. She's seven months old and spunky as can be.

I couldn't take it anymore I had to find out what was going on with my remaining four eggs. I just have this feeling that they are not going to hatch.

I opened one up carefully, not breaking the membrane at first until I was sure it was not alive. For some reason, it must have died a few days before hatching. It was formed, but had a lot of yolk sac yet to absorb. It was dead and I can only assume that the remaining three are as well. I'm going to leave them in the nest a little longer and hope for the best, but I'll let the hen decide when she wants to give up on them.

I'm gathering my eggs for my next attempt, in the bator this time as my only broody will be busy with the two chicks that she did hatch!

I have 9 out on day 23 and a few more piped. I have a BCM from a BYC member that I am seriously debating on helping it or not. Actually all of my 8 BCM are hatching way slower than the mutts that are running around all over them. I have done really good and not opened the bator once since lock down but my patience is just about gone. Thinking I am at least going to get the dried ones out cuz they are picking at the wet ones. They are mean.
