ANyone else have heart pangs after giving away some of their chickens

I guess im the weird female in the flock cause it doesnt bother me at all. I have a few that im really attached to ..but only the ones that are staying get named. Thats pretty much how we deal with everything here on the homestead. It just makes it easier. For instance as i was lambing this year the ewe lambs, which we are keeping all of cause my adult ewes are getting old, got names like.. faith and hope.. my ram lambs were named lambchop1, lambchop2, lambchop3, etc

It's a little easier to sex a lamb than a chicken - right? And when you have to process the named ones in another year or two isn't that gonna give a little twinge to the heart???? I do understand that many of these are really livestock and I just helped my ds and dil process about 80 birds, but it's still hard for me when I have to part with little ones that I spent time imprinting.

I'm a softie. My other son calls me a whimp....

I feel the same way. I just gave away my very first baby. He was my EE roo. He went to a fantastic home and will be the king of his own flock, but I still feel very sad. But it was what was fair for him. Here he would have been very unhappy..we have 2 or 3 other roos. 1 of which he would have had to live with in the same pen. So i know he will be happy, just sad for me.
