Anyone else have 'helpful' 'knowledgable' family members?

Upon voicing my interest in getting chickens and then following through and actually getting them, I can't tell you how many people kept telling me I needed a rooster with the hens so they'd lay eggs

Luckily I was already a BYC member and had good information already.

It was because of the bad experience with those animals during her childhood that my wife was initially resistant to my plan to have goats and chickens. To her credit, though, she soon opened her heart to all of them and now thinks they are all beautiful. And she loves the fresh eggs, homemade cheese, etc.

Now she tells her mother that she is wrong about her husbandry advice, but that doesn't seem to stop the advice from coming regularly.

No, she really just thinks she knows better. It's not her fault... my Grandfather was the same way.
