i am giving my barn an overhaul today. when its cold i let some stuff pile up, empty feed and shavings bags. my dh is home today and we are going to work out side. its 11 degrees out, why sit inside. lol

I started yesterday, taking the tree down and such - earlier than normal. The kids were actually very helpful. They wrapped all the ornaments in bubble wrap and sticky-taped closed, and I packed into the box. it worked really well - Gone are the days I have to do it all myself.!

As for cleaning, yesterday I cleaned our upstairs "guest" bathroom from top to bottom. After all the holiday visiting, it needed a good scrub. I got a new candle warmer for Christmas, so I put it in there since I have caught myself leaving candles burning overnight in there before.

The candle warmer should be less of a fire hazard if I forget to turn it off.

Next, I went through both DH's and my closets. I like all the clothes arranged by type, and you might think I'm a little weird, but I also arrange them by color. It helps me to find what I'm looking for early in the morning when I'm still tired. DH is wonderful and helped me with the laundry before the holidays, but he just put stuff wherever. Since I'm the more organized one, I fixed it.

I also straightened up the pantry after digging through it for baking supplies during the holidays, and cleaned out our shoe and coat closet. A huge load of coats, suits and nice sweaters that would get beat to death in my washing machine went to the dry cleaner's yesterday and should be ready by next Wednesday.

Today I have to take down the holiday decorations. I have been procrastinating somewhat as it is a big job. It will happen soon, though.

There are no words for how much work I have to do in my house and yard before Monday. No words. And here I am procrastinating again, with brownies baking in the oven.

I'm a bad, bad girl.

I usually start cleaning the day after Christmas. I have no idea why this nesting instinct kicks in at this time, but it does, every year. It has become as normal as my holiday flu bug that shows up on Christmas Eve!

Since my mother passed away in November, I have become almost obsessive about getting rid of everything I don't really need. I think it's because after going through her house (which I still am) I can see just how much stuff we can accumulate that is so needless.

I'm hoping to have a lot of space by the end of 2009...if I can stop buying stuff

I'm right there with you Zoo! I just feel like we've been suffocating in this mess far to long. My mini-van is packed full of stuff that is going already! IT ALL HAS TO GO!!!

It is now almost 5:00 and I am STILL working away!

I am so going to sit in a nice hot bath once this is finished. Holy cow! This has been so much work!

Good luck to the rest of you who have been plugging away or will be in the next few days.

We've all been off from school so we've been at it since the 28th. Little by little we're chipping away at it.
