Anyone else pay for pullets and get mostly cockerels?

I somehow got a barred rock roo in with my pullet-only order. If I can tell at day one (well, 3 really, with mailing) it's a boy, McMurray really ought to have.
They got the remaining 34 right, though, even though the BR's were the only breed you could eyeball sex. I can't really complain about those percentages, I guess.

When I have ordered from MM, I have had great success with the chicks. I think you should call them and tell them you got a straight-run order (prob. read the order sheet wrong). they are the nicest people there ever, and they should credit you. I'd give them another chance, as they are usually very good.

Holy Cow! Y'all are making me nervous

Anywho, I got 14 pullets from TSC back a couple months ago. I am pretty sure they got them from Townline and all are pullets *YAY*
But I got an order from McMurray the beginning of this month. Supposed to be all 15 pullets... now I am going to need to go check. Eesh.

I'll take a free salmon fav. roo! They're soooo pretty

Call the hatchery and give them a chance to make it right. Everyone messes up sometimes. And ya gotta remember, those folks packing the boxes, how much do you think they make an hour, and how loud is it in there, truthfully I'm suprised there aren't a lot more mis-packed orders.

Okay! Well out of 5 Andalusians, we have 1 cock looks like. Out of 5 Buff Orps, all look to be pullets. I am just fine with those stats

It is the RC Brown Leghorns that are making me nervousish. I have never had rosecombs before so I am kinda new at looking at them... but LOOKS to me like maybe 2 cockerels and 3 pullets... maybe... I am just judging by the fact that two have kinda pink wattles already and they were born 2 weeks ago. But all the leghorns have more color to their combs than any of the other ones. I guess it is a wait and see...

I'm not seeing all boys in this photo. Are you sure they are boys? How old are they now?

I was afraid to contact them because I was certain they would want to send me more. Although they did sex the buff orps correctly. Maybe I was just getting too exotic.

two columbian wyandotte - both girls
two gold laced wyandottes - both boys
two Salmon Favorolles - both boys
two cochin - one boy, one girl
four EE's - one boy, three girls
three buff orps - ALL GIRLS

I lost a couple in transit and bought silkies and buff brahmas that were straight run, so I expected cockerels there. So out of 12 non- buff orps, I got 6 boys. I have hatched better ratios than that.

What's really weird? The free exotic they sent me is an OEGB pullet.

I probably will contact them. I just wanted to make sure this was a universal problem and if they offered to send more I wasn't just signing myself up for more cockerels...

Maybe you could ask them to re-ship and use pullets for packing peanuts? They really are super nice, and im sure they'll do whatever they have to do to make sure you're satisfied. I just got an order from them as well, and hopefully my pullets are pullets. Good luck!
