Now that the more stressful holidays are over is anyone else starting to think about spring and their garden plans?

I know I have to do a major overhaul of our garden because last year it was too big and grass grew right back where we tilled it up and I couldn't keep up. This year I'm planning something better and hopefully we can incorperate the chickens into it to give them another run area to help keep the paths clear of grass and weeds :D

Sounds like a great idea! I was thinking of making my fence higher so maybe screen off the raised beds and let the chickens forage in the rest!

Yup~ I plan on building raised gardening beds for my mother who has back problems.. And maybe a raised garden bed or two around my coops to plant some herbs they like.. Like Lavender or mint and some tall grasses just to make it look nice.. I also have about 15 acres of pasture we're going to plant clover and timothy grass in for our cows and bees we're getting this spring.

New St. Lawrence Nursery catalog with new June Berry cultivars listed. Working up seed list from Fedco. Can't work in garden till spring. Continue with BTE in garden and orchard, continue sheet composting area, and hope to finish hugelkulture mound. The finished areas of HK will be planted this season, along with the new sheet compost area. This will free up space in the garden to allow better spacing/control of the jungle effect.

I'm ready for spring. Tomorrow's temperature is supposed to be -35 with windchill. Really not looking forward to that. I've got some tulips in one of my beds and hoping for a beautiful display in mid spring. But, going to try and start some peppers this year with a heat mat. I've had moderate success without one, but now looking to up my game! I've got a whole seed order list here somewhere....just need to find it!
