We are first time chicken owners and I am still in love with them!! I am so glad I finally convinced my husband that chickens are a good idea!!

I love watching all the chickens come running out of the coop when the door opens.
I love watching the girls and boys wander around the yard.
I love the way they stroll over to check out what I am doing in the yard.
I love the way they look at you with one eye.
I love the way they run - especially when they think I have a treat.
I love the way they let my son hold them and carry them around.
I love to wake up to a cock-a-doodle do in the morning.
I love the sound of their beaks pecking on a dish as they gobble up some tasty snack.
I love to collect eggs in the afternoons.
I love listening to the egg song.
I love listening to their noises as they settle in the coop for the night.
I love the seeing the smiles on people's faces when I give them a doz. eggs.

Anyone else want to add what they love about having chickens?

I love the way they have such distinct personalities.
I love the way they rearrange their nest boxes to suit them, *not* you.
I love the way they hide their eggs and make fools of people searching for them.
I LOVE they way they look sitting in the nest box, laying.
I love the way they run around with a worm dangling from their beak, playing keep away.
I love the way their little fluffy butts look when they bend over to peck at something.
I love the way they look when they stand up to scratch.
I love seeing them on their roost when they settle down at night.
I love seeing the babies peeking out from under mama.
I love the fresh eggs!!!!

I feel the same way. When i go outside i say "come here ladies" & they come running. The Roo struts over to me & really thinks he is something - hahaha. They have personality & i really enjoy watching them run around.

Madly in love too! I love all that you guys posted, and I'll add one. I love the way they squabble nightly over the best spot on the roost haha. :) It sure can get loud!

Yep...who knew? I was looking for eggs and got SO much more! One found a worm today... chicken TV watching the others chase her trying to take it away! She managed to get it swallowed though ;) Love watching them in the nest box...one diligently scratches all the bedding out, the next gets in and picks up the straw to put it in. Love watching them with clove...grab it by the leafy end and run around with a string hanging out of their mouths like a kid with a string of spaghetti!

Do your chickens sing Lullaby when going to bed? Mine do! its so cute!
My Old English Game bantam does that; it's like she is calling everyone to bed and telling them a calming story

I fell in love with my girls the moment the peeping box was brought home from the post office. People look at my funny when I call them 'my girls', but they are kind of like my little feathered daughters now. :p

We got our chickens in June, and I thought the work to clean up after them and feed them was going to be such a pain. But I adore them so much, it hardly feels like work at all! We have four ( I want to add to our flock in spring), and each one is so different. I had no idea how much personality each would have, and that they'd be so different from one another. I love learning something new about them every day! Two of them even like being pet, once you can convince them to let you pick them up! SO excited for eggs- I'm thinking right around Halloween or in the week after if I am lucky!

Aren't they just so much fun?

After waiting 60 years for a chance to raise chickens..my husband finally got me 4 for my birthday..It has been a long awaited addiction ever since. I love everything about them.I have 8 now, lost two rescue hens( that was so hard), and would love to have 8 more but hubby won't make hen house bigger. I am so glad I am not the only one in love with their chickens. I also love BYC.
