I'm just wondering what everyone might think of using a radio in the coop. Do you think that the noise would keep the raccoons from lurking around? Could it possibly work?

I use one for my parrots but i never thought about using it for the shikkins. I bet it would help somewhat with predators though as they'd think a human was close. P.S. your avatar is hilarious!

I know that several people use them and studies have shown that the music helps the chickens and increases production. I think that was classical music though. I makes sense because if chickens are calm they do better, and I think it just calms them. I've seriously thought about adding one to mine

I have had a predator kill my chickens and I came on here asking for help and a lot of folks said to use a radio in the coop. They also said that even though this sounds gross, have a dog or human urinate around the coop. I have tried this and it works!! Good luck!

I keep an old radio in the coop. I think hearing human voices keeps my flocks accustomed to people. When I am out and about around the barn I like the sound of country music floating on the air.

I have a radio in each of my coops, all on talk shows. Plus some on my motion dectectors, these are on loud hard rock. I believe in the use of a radio to keep predators at bay, it doesn't matter what station it is on.

No offense to anyone who likes to listen to it, but would rap music deter any predators?
