Anyone else use an egg basket?

I would love to use a basket to collect my eggs in...but so far I only have unreliable layers! When things get situated, I'm getting a wire basket.

Ah, I wish I could be so fancy. I've got an opportunistic dog and if I left eggs on the counter...well, you get the idea. I just put them in the fridge because they are safer in there. Do the eggs taste better when you don't refrigerate them?

I think they do....when I place them in the fridge, they seem to take on the other food odors and I swear I can taste them in the eggs. I like mine off the counter. My customers seem to like them that way too...though I know they place them in the fridge just as soon as they get them home. Too many scared folks out there.....

I have a black china egg tray. It shows off the colours really well. I pencil the date on one end of each egg.

When I am giving them away, I also write the name of the hen on each egg. I think that the name personalizes the gift of the egg. (And makes people think about where their food comes from).

when I collect I probably should... Because i forget they are in my pockets... ha ha

I love some of you pics with your baskets folks!
We use a small plastic container with a handle on it. I believe it originally had boy scout popcorn in it.
It's the perfect size for us with only 9 layers, and the plastic is very forgiving and easy to clean. I normally collect 7-9 eggs a day in the bucket, which is where they stay on the counter until I get a dozen or 18 to put in cartons. Probably the longest mine stay out is 2-3 days. Then I always cycle my cartons in the refrigerator. Newest cartons go on the bottom.
The egg tray on the door is where I put the "less attractive" eggs. I have one layer who leaves a "blood" spot the size of a dime at the end of every egg. I keep those for us to use, along with the wrinkled ones. Although, I have been known to pencil faces on the ones I sell to my brother in law. It's a fun surprise when he opens the cartons.
