I have wondered if the real deal, such as LF dark Cornish, are good as meat birds. If so, how long would you grow them for?

I grow and breed Dark Cornish. They are like all other purebreeds in you are looknig at around 15+ weeks for good results. They do have a nice carcass shape to them, but they are not broilers by any stretch of the imagination.

I know this farm at Heritage Foods sells them as part of our 'slow food' movement for very high prices:

I'm just entirely pleased with the broilers and results I get, so I have no desire to start raising the DC for meat.

Thanks, that is great input. I have always had good luck with the white broilers too.
