Anyone ever had an agressive female quail?

Wow, an impressive set up! And a lot of work I imagine. I'm in the UK and keep my girls in a multilayer hutch set up, three 5x2 layers with clear windows on three sides. We intstalled heating and lighting and sand baths in the hutch that's on a timer. But despite this I think I'd like to move to a set up where they can run around a bit more natural. But I've only 11 girls at the moment as they keep dying. Not sure why. I had a hatch that wasn't so great. Leg problems and then they would just drop down dead for no reason I could see.

Actually your set up sounds more appealing all the time for me as these big aviaries can be a lot of work. LOL But the birds really do enjoy the feeling of freedom.

As for your birds dying, many times if they get a bad start from hatch, they never do thrive. Deformities in the legs or feet can mean there are other deformities elsewhere in the body. And their general health can be on the weak side, leaving them vulnerable to bacteria and virus infections.

You could try to boost their immune systems with added vitamin, mineral and protein supplements. If you are seeing any respiratory ailments you might also try antibiotics. Even adding Apple Cider Vinegar to their water at 1 or 2 tablespoons per gallon of water can help their immunity. ACV has wonderful properties in it and boosts the ph of the body. Bacteria's, virus's and even cancers cannot live in a high ph system. ACV is also good to increase appetite and give them glossy feathers. It contains many trace minerals not found in their regular diet.

It has been a pleasure chatting with you here. :)

Been great chatting to you too! I'll give ACV a go.l It was such a poor hatch. I got the eggs from someone who I found out is not too careful with interbreeding. :-( But I'll do my best with them and see!
Cheers!
