A guinea and a peacock breeding and producing fertile offspring? I saw it on feathersite, never knew it was possible until now!

uh. Guinea x Chicken Hybrids I have chickens and guineas soon to hatch. I won't ever be letting them near each other so I don't get those. Of course I don't have any of those naked neck things.

These hybrids are sterile, have not heard of any fertile ones so far.

I know someone who has a peacock that very frequently mates her chickens(she even showed me pictures). I have not heard of any of pea-chicken hybrids.. which I found strange, considering hybrids with guineas aren't that rare.. Anybody know if peafowl can produce chicken hybrids?

Hey Kim,

Thanks for that! I am a bit suspicious about that picture, can't decide if it seems doctored or is just typical appearance of pictures taken at that time?? Then again the hen appears to have dominant white so it is interesting the hybrid also shows effects of that gene.. wish I could see what color the dark areas on the neck were.. it would not make sense if the neck were black while the other black areas were turned white..another thing that bothers me is that pea-guineas are "relatively common" yet so far there's only a very old picture of one chicken hybrid(so far)..

It's so tempting to incubate the eggs, even asked the owner to hatch eggs however she also has many roosters.. I don't want to hatch and raise mutt chickens-I do assume that the majority of their fertile eggs would be 100% chicken as long as the roosters are there..
