Anyone ever kept a wild animal as a pet

my family actually found an abandoned/orphaned jack rabbit that we kept as a pet till it passed as a teen. He went through some stress after he got chased by our neighbors cat and dies.

The lower 3' of the wall that had the pantry closet was shredded to the wall studs all the way through in several spots.

We thought it was perhaps the cereal or dog food that got its attention.

It was definitely NOT friendly one bit.

I keep a number of "wild" ducks, not sure if that counts. They're native migratory species but were bought through aviaries around the US.

I have heard of people keeping foxes as pets, but the only non-domesticated animal I have kept as a pet is a fish .

Most wild animals are illegal to own without a permit so i wouldnt be stealing wild animals even babies because one thinks their cute now then a dieaster later on its like the fox and the hound she found a fox months later it because a problem and what did she do...she dumped it back outside where it has no chance at survival lol

We have pet spiders sometimes. If we find a distinguished one outside, we sometimes feed it, name it, and watch it.

Or toads sometimes get names and houses but they don't need help feeding themselves.

Occasionally, other wild animals get names and watched but nothing else.... Lollipop, the wild mallard, made her nests three feet from the front door for about three years.

Vet care for "exotics" is hard to come by.

That raccoon my dad brought in was terribly risky. Disease, rabies, worms and then the potential of bites make keeping wild things very risky.

Permit or not I think it's a bad idea all around.

I had a grey squirrel that was so young when cats knocked the nest apart, it's eyes were not open yet. It lived about 8 years in the house.
