You know the little dome shaped one for classrooms? It was my starter and now I have outgrown it, trouble is...it is spot on every time with good hatches, great computerized temp and turning, humidity... Just an awesome little bator....LITTLE. I almost jumped on that Brinsea sale for the larger, but now they are all back ordered forever.

Little brinsea disc holds 12 Coturnix eggs (as in there are 12 little egg shaped cut outs). I am dying to put 24 in there crammed and just monitor the turning (I work from home so this is possible). I am also thinking of cutting out my own egg slots or using the chicken egg disc for more space to put eggs in....

Or do I come back down into reality and load the still air hovobator with turner? It has been spot on for months now too (used it as my hatcher JJ and Daddy style). Keeps temp and humidity perfect, don't have to touch the dial. Hadn't used the turner for the hatching, but now it's the still air hova or the brinsea...Maybe I'll do half and half. It's a small order of eggs at 24, but want to add in more of my own to about 36.

Also have an LG....brand new....temp spikes all month and through out two hatches, terrible humidity issues, killed.... IMHO, 25 eggs due to radical temp jump to 104 or better and then down to 98 on two separate occasions. Calm room, all other bators fine... No one touching the things but me.

What would you do? This addiction will drive a girl mad. (OK...I was already there...but you know what I'm sayin).

LOL- OK ALL JOKING ASIDE THE HOVA WILL WORK, AND THEY DO A PRETTY DECENT JOB TOO... NICE SETUP ONCE YOU GET THAT OLD WAFER THERMOSTAT TUNED IN. LOTSA WATER SURFACE AREA IN THEIR DESIGN, THEY A GOOD PIECE OF EQUIPMENT, BUT WHAT WILL YOU USE FOR A HATCHER IF YOU PRESS IT INTO SERVICE AS AN INCUBATOR?

THE LG... WHILE THEY'RE A FINE CHICKEN INCUBATOR... LETS JUST SAY THEY HAVE KILLED ALMOST AS MANY EGGS AS THE US MAIL, AT LEAST GAMEBIRD EGGS.

AND BEFORE Y'ALL GO FLAMIN ME OR FORMING A LYNCH MOB LET IT BE KNOWN I HAVE AND USE MULTIPLE LG'S (JUST NOT FOR ANY EGGS I AM SERIOUS ABOUT OR HAVE MORE THAN A NICKEL IN..) MULTIPLE HOVAS IN BOTH STILL AND FORCED AIR MODELS, MULTIPLE BRINSEA OCTAGONS IN BOTH 20 AND 40 SIZES, AND CABINET INCUBATORS. (REALLY NEED TO SELL OFF ALL THIS JUNK AND JUST BUY SOME BRINSEA CABINETS

Yes JJ one of these little things: http://www.brinsea.com/products/mini.html

I
think I will do half and half and use half of the hova for the hatching. I am glad you feel good about the hovabator. That gives me hope. It is a total bummer (preaching to the choir here) when you loose precious good quality eggs from some of the best breeders here. HERE IS where I try to get my eggs and I can't stand waste.

I don't see it as flaming a product when we talk about the advantages and disadvantages of one incubator vs another for certain species. It is what it is. We the consumer have special needs and the makers can and should take notice to remedy the problems. The LG did hatch out some nice EE rhymes with "tricken" eggs for me. Note my fabulous pun tying in the the rock statement...

I am so sorry. We are so bad. Yes I am apologizing for JJ without his consent even. But he is funny and it is too darned tempting to laugh a little. It is an addiction! AND I would sell my soul for these cute little fuzzbutts! He is right. I need bigger equipment, more!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please do come away with "use the hovabator Tonya".
