my post office was really terrific when my young peafowl came in before, they let us come in before the building opens at a side door very bright and early in the am too(5-5:30 am i think which isn't so bad since they are supposed to come in at 4:30 am here). with another delivery, they did call later(maybe around 10:30 am) but i am suspect that wasn't my local office's fault personally. they seem to be always so curious and happy about the birds (a break from th mundane maybe?) and keep them in a warm and quiet spot for me and others. i don't know how many "bird" deliveries come in there on a regular basis, but they seem to handle things well. i'm "chomping at the bit" as is, and will call if i start getting worried(who knows that could be by friday am-i'm a natural born worry-wart!). i hope no-one's p.o. does something as callous as dropping them off on the doorstep or by their box at the end of the driveway-that would be really mean-can that really happen??? i wonder if they've even left the hatchery yet as of wed. 3-11-09 12:12 est....boy am i getting neurotic! i don't know why i don't just deal with shipped eggs!--some of you who have posted have ordered really nice selections of birds---buff orps, speckled sussex, delawares, barred rocks, wyandottes, oegb's. i wonder if i'll be lucky enough to get some of these nice ones as roos(packing peanuts)?!
