Looking to chat with someone who has knowledge and experience with this particular poultry virus.

I know a little about it although I have never seen it personally. It is one of several contagious respiratory viruses and can cause gasping, “pump handle” respirations, and bloody mucus from the beak. Chickens with it can shake bloody mucus around the walls of their coop. There is no treatment since antibiotics do not treat it. It also is a reportable disease in many states. There may be less severe cases. Here is some reading about it:

I just got necropsy results back from a bird that died Tuesday and it was positive for ILT. It didn't have any symptoms that we noticed until it suddenly died. Just started reading about it and trying to find out if we need to do anything about our remaining 5 birds and our backyard.
I'm currently waiting on preliminary lab results from necropsy but expect it to confirm ILTV. Are you seeing ILTV symptoms in your flock?

Sorry for your loss. It is contagious. I would close your flock so that no birds will leave your flock, since they are now carriers. Usually birds with ILT will have severe gasping and are unable to eat or drink. They may have bloody mucus from the beak. There are milder strains of the virus. Have you added any new birds to your flock recently, or have your chickens been exposed to other chicken owners or neighbors with a flock? Have wild birds been visiting your feeders or waterers?
