I have a beautiful EE with what I researched as a "stuck gizzard". She is so large right now, she needs a bra!!
So far, the only fix I found is emergency care/surgery... way toooooooooooo expensive.

Does anyone have a remedy(ies) I can try on her????

Never dealt with such, is that the same as impacted crop? If it is, try a search for that. Good luck with her!

The gizzard and the crop are two different things. Maybe if you could post the symptoms specifically someone could help you. Take a look at this:

Your question mentions "at least 1 hen." It's possible you could have multiple hens with impacted crops, I guess, but I'm wondering if you're really mistaking normal crops for impacted ones. Normal crops really do bulge at times.

Hi elmo, I realize the difference between the 2 parts... but, if the gizzard is not doing its job, the crop will continue to fill.
It appears the gizzard cannot do its grinding thing???

I will check on impacted crop, ranchhand.

Thanx for the input

Before you do any of that, i recommend that you verify there's a problem. Simply seeing a large crop during the day is not a sign of anything being wrong, on its own. You may have already done this, but if you haven't.....

you can isolate your hen overnight with no food.

If her crop is still large in the morning, then you know you have a problem.

Like i said, you may have already done this, but i couldn't tell for sure from your post.

I hope your girl is ok.

Do your chickens have access to grit?

And, by the way, I'm not really sure if food not being ground up in the gizzard would result in food piling up in the crop. Food would not be properly digested, but it might still pass through.

Her crop is enlarged in the am before outdoor release (free range).
I will upload a pic today. Her crop has been getting bigger... day to day.
I need to do something..............soon

Her sisters/cousins have normal crops, some larger by days end, but hers is swinging from side to side... very large.

Pix to follow shortly.

Thanx for the advice/input

Here are some pix of what she looks like... you can see the difference between other birds in the background..............

I felt her crop this morning, it is soft to the feel, not hard.
She has been doing a head bobbing motion, forward/backward, every once and awhile.
The 3rd pic shows her crop very well.
