Anyone fluent in Chicken-Speak? What are my birds saying??

Just wanted to add that the alarm call for ground predators sounds like the egg song, for future reference. This I did not know and almost lost my roo cause I thought they were just laying and almost missed the pack of dogs chasing him.
On a happier note, my first layer of the group practiced a few times before she actually laid her first egg. I don't know that the others practiced or were just singing with her. They don't sing for every egg anymore and I kind of miss it.

Backyard Poultry magazine had an article on chicken-speak in the Feb/Mar 2009 issue. They have a website but that particular article isn't posted. But you can get back issues. It was a pretty good article. I recommend the magazine as well.
