Anyone for an Iowa Chicken Swap

Will you have any dominique chicks available Ryu? I have one lonely dominique roo, and I go to Burlington every month as well....

I have something that might work better. I have some hens that have combs like this:

I think that they would really help keep the Silkie comb flat. They are only partially laced, which would really help you breed out the pattern--if your silkies are solid colors. These hens are chunks. One "Chicken Little" is 1/2 Cornish, and the other "Katie" is 3/4 cornish.

But I could get you a roo if you really want one:

Not real Exhibition typey, but lots of mass.

Hmm, all I have is three lonely hens right now (one Stichler excellent quality exhibition hen, and two from south all just over a year old). I could bring them to Burlington May 2. I can post pics if you would like.

I am on Mike's wait list for chicks, and I'm sure to won't keep all of those either, but I'd like to get some age on them before I sort (talk about counting chicks before they're hatched!

I would be interested in the Olive eggers too. Can you write me privatively and shoot me a price for them? My granddaughter and I both love going on an Easter egg hunt every weekend when she visits. I promise they would have a good home. My neighbors love my birds and bring them veggies everyday. I have a huge run (HUGE) for them and a isolated winter house as well thats right out my back door. They can't sneeze and I don't hear it. All my birds other then 3 EEs and 3 bantams are really young.. REALLY young.. so some that are laying would be so nice. Im getting 2 bantam eggs, 2 EE eggs one BR egg and one silkie egg a day.. I have no roo..

He is way to young. So ya.. they will have a good home and I have vet refrances if you would like. I have lived in the same house for 19yrs this fall, so Im not going anywhere.. and neither would they.

We have a ton of young Maran roos and a couple lavender Ameraucana (with a straight comb

) roos if you would like to pick out a roo too. They are with the girls right now.

The Maran roo over a blue laying Ameraucana is how we made the Olive eggers. We get a rainbow from the laying flock it is cool.

I will let her know.

Just went to Burlington for the first time last weekend. So much fun! And my kids all loved it. We'll be going back next month.

Just chiming in here, I am in North Central Iowa, by Mason City. Would love to get involved in a swap. Just went to Waverly a couple weekends ago, Burlington is a bit of a road trip...how often is it, what is it like?

It's a swap meet, in Burlington. It's nice, can find some nice birds sometimes, but IMO, not worth driving to from Mason City, LOL. Thats about 4 hours......
