Anyone from OZ? Dame Magpies

I am really having trouble with magpies swooping my rooster, he isn't much of a fighter and tends to run (I would too!) when they come at him. My concern is that as they actually attack I'm worried for our chicks. They are starting to wonder the yard and I really can't keep sling shoting the dame things to keep them away. Anyone have any ideas? like a scare crow? anything

Magpies are buggers...Being you have Chicks going out too...That is what they are after...They swoop only to tease the Rooster...I believe they want your Chicks...Keep Chicks in a bit longer...

I had a litter of Puppies and the Magpies were after them too...Mother Dog was busy chasing Magpies all day...

Try a plastic Owl...Was told they work.....

Ah thank you for that, I do have the chicks in a run that is covered, so they can't get to them, they are coming out of coop but stay in run with hen, (coop is attatched to the run) they tend to attack rooster and go threw the little door the rooster uses to go in and out of to try to get into run, the hen looses her wits when they do so that is when I go bailing out their to get them out. If I really wanted to hurt them/kill them magpies I could have done that by now, but I don't want to do that. Mum stays in with babies as she doesn't like the Magpies. Thanks for the heads up with Plastic Owl will give that a bell see how we go.
