Anyone going to have eggs hatch in novemeber?

My first batch is done. I have a smaller set of 5 to hatch today. I didn't see any pipping though this morning. I put one in that I think was a quitter around day 16 but we'll see. One is also a pullet egg that doesn't have a large air sac. I'll be happy if 2 hatch, pleased if 3 hatch, really amazed if 4 or 5 hatch.

Have more in the bator a couple few between here and then but on Nov. 25th I have another 18 or so hatching. My broody has 9 under her due on the 20th but we'll see this is her first clutch so I don't know how good she'll be. I never see her off the nest so she is sitting well. We will see if she makes it to the 20th. I also am a little worried cause she cracked one egg and a few seem to not be under her at random times.

I also have a first time broody sitting on some eggs Kizanne! Mine is due on the 21st. Fingers crossed that our first time mums do a good job!
I didn't notice mine was broody at the start... she has made her nest inside an old feed bag on my front verandah that I was using to cart straw around in. I finally got around to cleaning up out the front and picked the bag up to find her in it! Her eggs looked to be about 7 days or less along... so I took them from her and replaced them with some of pure eggs.

Yea mine is sitting on some eggs that most will be EE's. I just have to keep watching the nest cause she is litterally named Bobsy 1 and she has a sister Bobsy 2 called the Bobsy twins that keep trying to add eggs to her nest. She has enough already! I think it might have been Bobsy 2 that cracked one of the eggs trying to get in there and lay beside her sister. I just sold all my EE chicks that hatched last weekend so I'm hoping for some more EE's. It really helps pay for their expensive feed.

Thanks for the advice and encouragement everyone! I am also doing the old-fashioned lightbulb in a box thing with a thermometer inside (digital) and a cup of water which is always full... It's so hard to control the temperature, as I have to keep adjusting the lid on top as the temperature outside fluctuates and drops... But I think I'm getting the hang of it now, and more or less know at which times I have to go adjust the opening. I am already building my next incubator though, out of an old cooler box with a pc fan installed. The heat source will be outside the box this time, and I'm creating an easy-turn system for the eggs. I will be collecting eggs for hatching about 3 to 4 days before these are due so that I can start the next hatch right away... Hooked much?

Well, I did hatch in November, but it was November 2, last Monday.
Worked out swell, 9 out of 12 mailed eggs hatched.
Good Luck to y'all.

Aren't they cute as the dickens?

I've got 2 broody's sitting on 6 eggs apiece right now. This is my first hatch, so I am very excited!! I'm only at day 3 with the first clutch and I just gave the second hen a clutch today because she kept stealing the first hen's eggs... They are young, so this is the first time for them too!

How long can an egg sit before you put it under the hen and still be ok? The first hen, all of the eggs were taken right out from under another hen and given to her, but the second hen, I took eggs from unoccupied nest boxes. I know for sure that they were laid between 6:30 and 11:30 this morning. I put them under her at 11:30. 5 of the eggs were still warm, but one was cool. It is about 40 degrees outside today, but probably closer to 50 in the coop.

Sounds like an improvement. Will you still use a light bulb for the heat source?

I really hope when i get home I have some more fuzzy butts hatched out. I didn't see any pipping this morning so I'm worried. I'm pretty sure I have one quitter.
