Anyone going to have eggs hatch in novemeber?

Thanks for the advice and encouragement everyone! I am also doing the old-fashioned lightbulb in a box thing with a thermometer inside (digital) and a cup of water which is always full... It's so hard to control the temperature, as I have to keep adjusting the lid on top as the temperature outside fluctuates and drops... But I think I'm getting the hang of it now, and more or less know at which times I have to go adjust the opening. I am already building my next incubator though, out of an old cooler box with a pc fan installed. The heat source will be outside the box this time, and I'm creating an easy-turn system for the eggs. I will be collecting eggs for hatching about 3 to 4 days before these are due so that I can start the next hatch right away... Hooked much?

I did something like that. I went and got a $6 lamp dimmer. It's one where ya plug the "lamp" into the dimmer then plug the dimmer into the wall. I used that instead of opening the incubator because you wont have the option of opening it when you go into lock down. I had some successful hatches in that cooler incubator. :) I am keeping it for a back up.

I candled last night but since I have NO idea what I'm looking at it didn't do me much good! I've looked at all of the online pics but seeing a picture where someone points out what you're looking at is a lot different than trying to figure it out on an actual egg. Today is only day 6 so I'm going to leave them alone till day 10 and see if I can figure it out. On a positive note, my Genesis is keeping the temps and humidity just perfect. I put in an air hose that I had left over from an aquarium so I don't have to open the bator to add water. I saw that suggestion on here somewhere and it works great.

Hello :) I would like to join, if I can? I have some due on the 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, and 30th XD I have a lot to look forward to after Thanksgiving :) It's going to be like an early Christmas :) Especially the 29th! I have 1 Duck egg due then! MY FIRST DUCKIE :) She/he is on day 6 and doing great! I already see Little Sparky's heartbeat :D

Well the ones supposed to hatch are probably dead. This morning my temp was too low. I turned it up and when I got home it was 106. Probably up too high for too long. I'll give them a day or two to see if they hatch but I'm pretty sure I accidently booked them in the shell.

I'm already on the list but here's my due date: November 24th
6 Lavendar Orpingtons and 4 Blue/Black Orpingtons

That is a great idea. My incubator is doing great but I think on day 18 i'll put a hose threw the air vent to refill the water in the bottom. Mine actually is staying higher then I'd like for humidity with NO water in it. it's staying around 50% and i prefer it at 35 to 40

My little frizzle broodybator just hatched out a little Cream Legbar - 6 more eggs under her, so hopefully there will be a few more

Sounds like an improvement. Will you still use a light bulb for the heat source
Yes, will still use the light bulb, but will invest in that dimmer like Sweetlilbaby suggested... I will keep building incubators until I'm successful at it! I am buying 3 silkies from a friend soon... They are now about 2 weeks old and I will get them as soon as she lets them go - Their mom is raising them and she wants to keep them with her until she leaves them to roam by themselves... I hear silkies are great broodies!

1muttsfan - I love your term "little frizzle broodybator" So cute!!
