Anyone going to have eggs hatch in novemeber?

I'm at the end of day 6, and couldn't resist candling again

(Can I change my username to candling addict??) Of the 7 eggs I have left, 4 have a nice spidery network of veins with a tiny dark spot, 1 has LOADS of veins... So much that it looks like a huge cluster (?) and 2 are clear... The 2 clear ones are from my RIR pullet... Maybe she's too young? Leaving them in just in case...

Out of the 10 Orp eggs I knew one of them wasn't good. Cracked it open last night and could tell it was fertile but it hadn't developed past a day or two. These are shipped eggs so I'm not surprised. The other nine are iffy at best. They are only at day 8 so I'm going to wait a week and see what's happening then.

I just got home from work and went to check the eggs... This morning all was well. I got to the coop to find the nest boxes with the clutches of eggs in them didn't have their hens... Both hens were sitting in the other two nest boxes. Their eggs were cold to the touch. It's about 40 degrees outside. My daughter said when she let the horses out, probably around 6 hours ago, they were sitting on their eggs. I put them back on their eggs, but I'm worried now because they were cold... I guess all I can do is wait... Should I move the, into the kennel building into their own little brooder type boxes??

if eggs get cold it's okay. However long they didn't have heat on them will be added to how long it takes them to hatch. i've never had issues of them being cold. i've taken some after hens abandoned their nest left just one or two under the hen then incubated the rest and gave them back after they were fluffy chicks. just tucked them under the hen at night.

on day 10 if those two are still clear take them out. Throw them away or feed to a dog. That is cool that the rest have veins :)

I left them in the bator just in case. Came home today and I have 2 chicks hatched and 1 pipped. I don't know how long the temp was at 106 but it seems they are ok. I pretty sure one egg was a quitter before going into lock down so if the pipped one hatches that leaves one more to hatch.

Despite the high temp I just had a 100% hatch. I'm pysched because I thought I had killed them all with the high temp. Even the one I thought was a quitter hatched.

Next hatch the 21st :)

I'm so glad! Hopefully we'll still get a good hatch. If they get off of their nest again, I'm going to move them to separate digs... I think they moved over to different nest boxes to sit on those eggs.

kizanne - 100 % hatch rate? that's great!!! way to go!

hope we all have some of that luck....

While shipped eggs do go through alot. So far I've always gotten at least 50% with shipped eggs so hopefully in a few days you will see lots of beautiful veining.
